Introduction
- fade in some type of atmospheric synth or strange sound – basically just ambience
- Beaches is the exception where the guitar kicks in first, then the drums, then the vocals
- guitars + percussion enter for an instrumental introduction – usually a variation of the main riff/pattern
- (optional) peak the ambience just before vocals come in, then bring it back down right after

- choruses are repeating motifs and the verses build around it
